Announcement: Next 'Community Conversation' On June 20 At 3 PM
It was one year ago that the Elmwood Park Advocate started holding “Community Conversations” at the library.
On Saturday, June 20, at 3 pm, we invite residents to join us, celebrate our first year, and offer feedback on our reporting, writing, and community engagement. (RSVP here.)
The very first “Community Conversation” was focused on how Elmwood Park residents stay informed about developments in the village and the lack of local journalism. This was our way of seeing whether you all would take an interest in this newsletter and support our work.
Consistently, twenty or more people attended the conversations we held at the library on traffic safety, ICE operations and the village’s response, making the village more capable of withstanding extreme weather, and how Elmwood Park has changed over the past decades.
We kicked off this year’s series by focusing on parks and open spaces in the village. Our conversation in May was about the library’s decision to reduce its normal hours of operation.
You all have made what we do a tremendous success, and in order to go forward, it is the Elmwood Park Advocate’s responsibility to ask you what you’d like from us. You do the talking. We’ll listen.
How can we continue to build this newsletter so that it benefits you and strengthens this community? What does journalism mean to you?
We will have cake and refreshments in the Ferrentino Room of the library. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors, and we’ll see you at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 20.
*Note: The Elmwood Park Public Library has permitted resident-led groups to use meeting spaces as a community service. The Library neither sponsors nor endorses this event, the speaker(s), or the organization
