Just realized they not only schedule their board meetings for 5pm to limit resident participation, but this one is also at the tail end of a long “holiday” weekend. I thought they loved Columbus Day???

Well I. Part they have the meeting at 5 also as it has always been at 5 sense I can rember and I been in town for 30 plus years now.

I believe in part because they also work In town and it is more convient that way. But it could also be as historically the town was much more blue collar and folks tended to be working 7 to 3 shifts. This is at least how I rember it as a kid and teen amounts my friends

To you comment on the folks celebrating Columbus day.

I have found it interesting the hate Columbus gets from Spanish desendents. I know many Italians like to hold to the fact he was born in Italy but he was here on orders and funding of the Spanish empire and well he was never stepped foot in what is now US. He was even buried in Spain which says a lot for his person alegences. He only touched ground in the carabian islands, top of South America, and the coast near the southern tip of North America .

It is also sad they have not updated this info to better educate folks on who killed off the indigenous people as many still think it was northern European settlers. I mean it is fact that Mexico city is built upon the ruins of the Aztec empires capital, and the bones of the population which by these same people had genocide brought down before them on the male population and forced the female population into assimilation there. At least now folks can better educate themselves through more open and transparent history books.

I would again recommend ethier using the link provided to get your no for-profit status officially set. https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/application-process

Just because you do not make a profit from this does not designate you as a non for profit orginization .

If he presented you a letter at this point it is now the time to take the next step.

It looks like you had a good turn out and I am sure you are at the least helping those in the room there to deal with what is currently bothering them In the community.

The other option is the Elmwood Park community Church or the chuck in Harlem near the old ace. They have a very nice basement meeting area.
