EVENT: Community Conversation On Parks And Open Spaces
On Saturday, April 25, at 3 p.m., the Elmwood Park Advocate will hold a “Community Conversation” at the Elmwood Park Public Library on parks and recreational spaces. We’ll meet in the Ferrentino Room.
Elmwood Park has several parks: Bambi Park, Centennial Park, Central Park, Elmgrove Park, Kathy Torpe Park, Kiddie Korral, Skate Park, and Triangle Park.
We’ll invite residents to discuss the time that they spend in our local parks, what they appreciate about the parks, and what they would like to see improved or updated. The conversation will also consider how Elmwood Park utilizes open spaces and how further spaces could potentially be developed. (You can RSVP here.)
After receiving a state grant, the Village of Elmwood Park is constructing a new Kiddie Korral park at Dickens Avenue and 75th Court. The park has been a part of residents’ lives for 27 years, and yet as far as the newsletter can tell, very little outreach to residents has been done.
The Elmwood Park Advocate obtained plans for the Kiddie Korral redesign and will incorporate the plans into a wider discussion about what residents need and value when it comes to parks. How do we ensure that parks in the village continue to benefit residents? Should the village do more to engage residents on plans for parks and recreational spaces?
We will have coffee and bakery treats. Invite your family, friends, or neighbors, and we’ll see you at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 25.
*Note: The Elmwood Park Public Library has permitted resident-led groups to use meeting spaces as a community service. The Library neither sponsors nor endorses this event, the speaker(s), or the organization
