Grinch Party
5 p.m. | Ferrentino Room at the Elmwood Park Public Library
The library celebrates the classic Dr. Seuss story “How The Grinch Stole Christmas!" with this all-ages event. Register here.
Friday, December 5
Celtic Corner’s 1st Annual ‘Toys for Tots’ Toy Drive
2 p.m. | Celtic Corner at 7300 W Diversey Ave
This local dive bar is holding its first “Toys for Tots” toy drive. It will last from 2-6 p.m., and those who donate a toy get a free drink. There will be pizza, $5 Surfside and White Claws, and $10 domestic and $15 import buckets. Toys will be collected for the run on December 7.
(The Elmwood Park Police Department is also collecting toys for the run until December 5.)
Elmwood Park’s Annual Holiday Stroll & Treelighting
5 p.m. | Village Circle
Join the community in the circle for the Village of Elmwood Park’s annual holiday event. The treelighting is at 6 p.m. in front of the village hall. There will also be popcorn and hot chocolate, carolers, dancers, tacos for purchase, and a train for families to ride around the circle.
Saturday, December 6
Holiday Maker Market
1 p.m. | Scamp Studios at 8221 W. Grand Ave in River Grove
Support creators and small businesses at this free community event. There will be a kids craft corner. Artisan candles, stained glass art, painted sea shells, portraits, beaded jewelry, and more will be for sale.
Monday, December 8
Library Board Meeting
5 p.m. | Korbel Room at the Elmwood Park Public Library
The Library Board of Trustees holds their monthly meeting.
Wednesday, December 10
Grand Gateway Project Open House & Public Forum
4 p.m. | Elmwood Park’s Park and Recreation Center
The Village of Elmwood Park, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation and Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways, will hold an open house and public forum on the underpass planned for the Grand Avenue rail crossing. The public forum will begin at 6 p.m., and a court reporter will record statements.
Give To The Elmwood Park Community Church’s Food Pantry & Clothing Closet
Donate to the Elmwood Park Community Church’s food pantry or the clothing closet. They have asked for winter coats. Donate on Saturdays between 8 a.m and noon or leave donations at the front door of the church. (You can also give funds here.)
The food pantry is open from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday for residents living in the following zip codes: 60707 and 60171.
