While the Superintendent pretends the school district did nothing wrong, the Elmwood Park Advocate will do it part to make up for this abuse of secrecy
Please know that Google Drive has a vault where everything gets copied to even if deleted off of the server. I would not put it past Leah to have Tom Kinane delete it from there.
I am hoping it was not Laurie who locked the comments shortly after Kevin responded to my post on drama free EP group.
From the interactions Laurie and I have had I would not take her as a pro censorship type person. I do know she is are a moderator on there.
It would be best let they just do not post it at all and decline then to censor responses.
I also do not believe Kevin nor Sara would be ok with this censorship. But maybe they is more crazy leftist then I gave him credit for.
I removed the post as I do not think it proper for one side to put out their opinion and not allow others to respond.
Opinions can be disliked In responses but in the end that is what freedom of speech allows for and should not be censored.
I would never say the advocate should not comment back nore post their articles. Although I will always comment back when I disagree with the subject matter.
I think your response on FB was a great one and maybe you should organize your followers who disagree with these changes to move forth with a writing campaign.
I would even recommend sharing that in all the groups you may even pick up a few new folks to add in the change.
I am personally going to be writing asking for archives of future meeting to return but also asking that it all just be in a audio formatt. Will illminate and privacy concerns from the images and allow folks to share without those concerns too.
Everyone will then Have access to what was said and eliminate any privacy concerns too.
Are you going to get a release to publish recordings of the school board meetings? Or at least not share images of the kids with out parental permission.
The school could in the past share these images as we who have kids in district sign releases to allow them to.
I am guessing you are now going to show up to film at each meeting by this statement.
And btw— other parents were there taking pictures of their kids. Should we also ask if that’s illegal? And the Village takes pictures at community events. Is that illegal? Maybe the library is breaking the law when they take pictures at library events too. Maybe everyone is breaking the law Don! You’re such a hero for the safety of children—- please please please investigate this!
So the school is not like the library and is private property. It also does have a expectation of privacy.
The pictures in public places are legal by state law. So the village would not be in any violation.
I believe the library is also considered public property although I would bet events with kids In the library would require a release if they took pictures.
I do know for school events we are told not to share pictures of other kids when we volunteer.
The library does not make you sign a release. My child was photographed there and it was put on their website without me knowing. Again. You are wrong. The Advocate can and will post the videos. There are no lawyers.
There are lawyers for sure and we will see what comes from it. I will reach out to the school board on it and use the correct channels. I will also recommend other people do the same. There is nothing wrong with that.
I may also try to organize like minded folks to petition for only a live feed which cannot be downloaded for the safety of the children. I am not a fan of a private organization archiving school information with out permission from the parents of the school.
As to the pictures of your child. If you had reached out to the library and said please remove my child's image from the page I am sure it would have happened right away.
Will you remove the meetings from the archives if parents ask for them to be?
Don you don’t care about the kids you care about harassing the newsletter. Posting it on our feed is no different than it being on YouTube like it was before. Enjoy wasting your time.
Until very recently, these meeting were available on a public channel on YouTube for YEARS. Accessible to anyone on the internet and those links were ALWAYS shareable. You didn’t have an issue with it then Don.
If you have an issue with your kid being perceived in a public forum, do not let them be in that public forum. But I know that’s not actually your issue— you just wanted a disingenuous attempt at discrediting the Advocate.
I do not have a problem with the school sharing images as I have given them permission to do so. On theirs and only their social media.
We will see how the legality of this pans out. Maybe it is completely legal. That will be up to the lawyers.
If they blurr any imagery of the kids in posted videos I am sure it will be fine.
You are correct until recently it was available but things changed last year. You can interpret that how ever you would like.
Also I am not trying to discredited the newsletter. Just keeping a eye on it and sharing what it is doing so folks are aware. Some will agree some not but best for them to know.
People can take pictures of your child in public at any time and it’s entirely legal. There is no “legality” to consider. I’m really unsure how you developed this theory. These are public meetings.
Don I want to personally thank you for spending all your free time engaging with our content. We love engagement (even misguided attempts to discredit us). You were probably the very first person to read this. Congrats! You’re obsessed.
No problem, it really is not a huge investment if time to keep up with the posts. someone has to keep a eye on the kids. Make sure they are not causing the nieboorhood to many problems.
Did you hit publish as you were standing up, I think I watched it happen! Thanks for taking a stand!

Not sure how is I can harass an newsletter. You choose to put these pieces into a public domain which opens them up for comment.
I do not mind commenting on the posts you guys put out nore sharing you perspective with those who may have already tuned you out.
It is important to have observation of possible threats to the communitys safety and any possible disruptive action within.
This you yourself have promoted and organized such actions in reaction to the current political situation we are living through.
Again just observing , commenting, and sharing with the community. Not in any way impeeding what your sharing in the newsletter.
You can believe what you would like on me caring or not about the kids. You opinion is really is of no concern to me.
The meeting is open to the public. It is, by definition, a public setting. The District itself shares the meeting publicly online for anyone to see.
